Vaccinating
poultry via mass spray systems has become the predominant
way to immunize birds in many poultry production units. Spraying
gives poultry integrators more positive control over the
timing and administration of ND virus vaccine than vaccinating
in drinking water. One spray-vaccination drawback
is the lack of convenient, safe and inexpensive water to
dilute the vaccine for delivery. Readily available
public- and farm-water sources are obvious choices; however
these water supplies routinely contain oxidizers, including
chlorine, which rapidly inactivate ND vaccines. To
avoid the risk associated with using tap water as the spray
solution, vaccine manufacturers typically recommend distilled
water as the diluent.

Nacogdoches, Texas - Animal Science Products Inc., a leading family owned premix blender, feed additive distributor and package goods manufacturer, has entered into a distributor agreement with CoinVet, Inc. of Colombia for Central and South America.
CoinVet, Inc., led by Mr. Pedro Lopez, President, will be distributing the full array of Animal Science Products Water/Vaccine Stabilizers as well as PKA®, a pH water treatment product. Family businesses can drive economic recovery — with some help
by Dr. Mark GreenAS lawmakers struggle to reverse the worst American economic recession in decades, they are pouring resources into corporate America through corporate bailouts, new taxes and stimulus packages. Unfortunately, these efforts ignore the fact that family businesses are the true foundation of our economy and hold the keys for our nation's economic recovery. For true economic growth, lawmakers must change tactics and actively support this forgotten sector of our economy.
Family business assistance programs are suffering. There is an immediate need for government and society to send a clear message in support of family businesses, their impact on the business community, and the economy as a whole. Unless and until this happens, family businesses will exercise caution when investing in new jobs, equipment and plants, thereby slowing down our nation's economic recovery.
Family-owned and -operated businesses represent more than 70 percent of all U.S. businesses and approximately 40 percent of the Fortune 500. They built this nation's economy and they will be instrumental in transforming the current economic climate. With personal and professional dedication rarely witnessed in corporations, family businesses have what is needed to get our nation back on track. They stimulate the economy by hiring locally, buying locally, and giving back to local communities.

In December, 2009, ASP celebrated two years without a lost-time accident. Safety is something we take very seriously here at Animal Science Products, and we have for years. We are very proud of hitting the two-year mark, and now look to eclipse our previous record of three years, achieved in 2000. Our team celebrated the two-year accomplishment with a company-wide award lunch on December 7th. Congratulations on a job well done!
